As you all know Wharfside Village suffered extensive damage from the Hurricanes of 2017. By taking an unobstructed hit from the waterfront, our damage was much different than what some other buildings experienced. As inspections took place and it was discovered that our repairs were more complex than other businesses in the area. Major structural repairs would be needed on most of the buildings. The planning, testing, and permitting has proven to be an arduous process., as well. Bringing a building that is almost 4 decades old up to current building code, is very involved. We have worked continuously with the Landlord on his vision for Wharfside Village and he has worked with us on the repairs & improvements to The Beach Bar. We are working diligently to rebuild together as quickly as possible to bring our Beach Bar back to its original glory as the premier live music venue and favorite watering hole on St. John. Wharfside Village waterfront businesses will reopen and will be better and stronger than ever. If Mother Nature decides to slap us around again, we’ll be ready!
During this time, we are fortunate enough to host both stateside & local musicians on our beachfront. We ceased these events a few weeks ago as we have been told that the outdoor construction & repairs are all coming together. We do not want to impede that progress.
What you can’t see….. Our Landlord has updated our kitchen! It should be much more efficient to better serve our guests. The interior bar space will be incorporated into the main outside bar. Now anywhere you sit at The Beach Bar, you will see the water & Cruz Bay’s beautiful sunsets while experiencing our relaxing Beach Bar Vibe! And yes…. It will have A/C on super-hot days. These areas are all close to completion.
As owners of The Beach Bar, we have not received insurance proceeds as of yet… ***On a personal note: It has been financially devastating. When we took over The Beach Bar, we never imagined that we would be on the receiving end of 2 CAT 5 Hurricanes less than a year later. It has been a struggle on all levels and Yes, we are all frustrated and disappointed that we are not open yet.
We continue to approach everyday thankful that we live on a beautiful island with some of the strongest most special people on earth. We thank you all for being part of our Beach Bar family and appreciate your love & loyalty.
The Beach Bar… Soon Come!
